Welcome back!! Phew! I hope you were able to fill your bucket and take care of yourself this last week. We need to come back rested and ready as we know this run until the end of the year is fast and furious!! Many of you know I spent my spring break on a mission trip in Mexico. If you saw me leading up to the trip, you know I was pretty stressed about it. The week before Spring Break was a bit nutty and what I really wanted to do was sit on my couch. Ha! But I knew I needed to go, so I made it happen. Well, as expected, there are not words to describe how incredible it was. My bucket is full!! That is for sure! I can't wait to share stories!! It also means that I am going to be digging myself out of laundry and catch up until the school year is over, but it is worth it!  Elementary- April 1, 2024 PD Information Please see below for agenda details location for the April 1st PD Day: 8:00-11:45 will be sites collaborating together at the locations listed below 8:00-10:15 Cycle...

Happy Sunday! I had to start the blog off with this quote because people with a positive outlook can achieve incredible things and when positive people find positive people the potential is immeasurable. This is the way I feel working with you each day! For example, I started a teacher group text and was a bit nervous. In my experience, a group message can sometimes provide an opportunity for negativity to seep in. Well, my heart is so full with the positivity in our group so far. And thank you Tracy for ripple message. It is so true. We continue to do great things and can only hope that inspires other schools!  We will be adding a lot of new teachers next year and need to keep this at the forefront! Always remember, this is how we do things at Westbrook and that is our expectation!  Speaking if positivity!!! A HUGE congratulations to Rori as our Assistant Principal next year. We are so fortunate! Rori is a wealth of information to support instructional practices and ou...

Happy Sunday! If you listed to the ROCKstar Report on Friday you already heard this but a group of us interviewed for our Assistant Principal position on Friday. (I cannot make any announcements yet which is absolutely killing me!!!) Aside from that, it was a great experience. I love interviewing people because you learn so much. Sometimes you learn new ideas you want to borrow, sometimes you learn interviewing techniques you want to steal and sometimes you learn more about people you thought you already knew. In these particular interviews, the candidates did their homework about Westbrook and shared how we are leaders in trying new things and how people talk about us around the district. What??? Freaking amazing!! And then one candidate asked the panel what they love about working at Westbrook. It initially felt a little awkward, I can't explain why, but after everyone shared, I felt like my heart could explode and I wanted to cry. Guys, Westbrook is amazing! Don't ever let...

Happy Sunday! Next up in our lessons from Ted Lasso, are 8 lessons for our students. I would actually love to take each of these lessons and make them a school-side focus for a week each. If we started after Spring Break, it would work. We don't have to make any reference to Ted Lasso, I just really love what each of these lessons offers our students. Let me know what you think and if you want to help. I know what you are thinking... Darn Brooks and her crazy ideas!!  Read Across America Week: This is going to be a great week! We have many fun things planned. Thursday Morning, we will have two assemblies beginning at 8am with the fire department. I will share the exact schedule on Monday.  On Friday and 10am, Jesse Bennet is going to be here to kick off our Read-a-thon! We will meet where we do for our Friday morning Flag Salute, she will read one of her books, possibly lead us through some stretching or yoga, and then send us off for some reading.  Exciting News!...
