Happy Sunday! I had to start the blog off with this quote because people with a positive outlook can achieve incredible things and when positive people find positive people the potential is immeasurable. This is the way I feel working with you each day! For example, I started a teacher group text and was a bit nervous. In my experience, a group message can sometimes provide an opportunity for negativity to seep in. Well, my heart is so full with the positivity in our group so far. And thank you Tracy for ripple message. It is so true. We continue to do great things and can only hope that inspires other schools! 

We will be adding a lot of new teachers next year and need to keep this at the forefront! Always remember, this is how we do things at Westbrook and that is our expectation! 

Speaking if positivity!!! A HUGE congratulations to Rori as our Assistant Principal next year. We are so fortunate! Rori is a wealth of information to support instructional practices and our students. I am even more excited we will not miss a beat as her role changes. 


Second Step Reminder: Rori and I took a peak at Second Step usage. We know and understand that it is tough to fit everything in, but Second Step is so important for our students. This is the Tier 1 instruction that supports student behavior. If you have fallen behind, don't stress! It is a great time to pick it back up as Unit 3 and 4 are friendships and problem solving. These are perfect for this time of year! The Spring is tough for kids to navigate. Just like flowers bloom, feelings and emotions bloom in the kids. Let be proactive and stay ahead of it! 

Open Positions: I said I would email open positions, but I am going to add them to the blog. Next year, we will be hiring for 1- TK, 1- 1st, 1- 2nd, 1- 3rd and 1- 4th grade. Let me know if you are interested in moving. There will be some internal movement, within Westbrook, to fill these spots. 


Open House: Open House is this Thursday from 4-7pm. Classroom doors are open from 5-6pm. This is a minimum day for students. Also, there is not a art show at Open House. We will have our art show at a later event. 


Community Thank You/ End of Year Celebration: We are going to have a community thank you event as a culminating activity. Our community has been very involved and helpful this year. I think it would be pretty cool to start the tradition of having a thank you celebration at the end of each year. 
For this celebration, I would like to have a silent auction of baskets created by each class and I would like for each grade level to create a booth for the event. I am hoping to get high school students to help work the booths. I have idea documents linked below. 
Also at the event will be corn hole, family games, food trucks and more.  This event will be on May 3 from 5-7pm.

  Happy Sunday! This week we have our first assembly recognizing our Resilient students. I cannot how happy it makes me to hear students talking about what it means to be resilient. This is such an important trait I hope to grow in our students at Westbrook. All of you are the perfect examples to lead the way as you have demonstrated such resilience in the opening of Westbrook. Another thank you to all of you! The Assembly will start around 10:10am. Some grade levels will be coming straight from recess. Let me know if you have questions about the process of the assembly. I know it will be new for most of you. I will have the certificates in your boxes tomorrow.  Keep an eye out for SWIS updates and information this week.  Volunteer Update:  Jason Perrone, our resident cheerleader, put a sign up in the staff room for him to come in and read to your class with the intention of having you leave the room and get a break. This is what I put in the family blog but I want to share it with you, as well!  Happy Sunday and Congrats to all of my Niners Fans out there! I am bummed we did not pull of the upset but it was a great game. The Packers made some big mistakes at the wrong time, but that goes to show you, we all make mistakes even if we are paid an astronomical amount of money😂 I have to say, I loved so much of the game. I loved (and hated) how close it was. I loved the history of Shanahan and LaFleur. I also enjoyed hearing how the coaches trusted their young quarterbacks.   Welcome to December, Westbrook! I just have to say, you all rock! Thursday's paint night was so much fun. There was so much laughing and well, joy. We were the first staff to do a paint night at MoJoe's and it was the largest paint night group they ever hosted. Leave it up to us to be the first! Many of you commented on how much fun it was and some even asked why more staffs do not do it? Well, to be completely honest, I want all of you to think about the staffs you came from and ask yourself if there would have been so many people at an event like this? In my experience not many would have shown up or it would have been the same few who always come. Is it the same for you? This is one of the million reasons we are so fortunate at Westbrook.
