Sunday, March 10

Happy Sunday! If you listed to the ROCKstar Report on Friday you already heard this but a group of us interviewed for our Assistant Principal position on Friday. (I cannot make any announcements yet which is absolutely killing me!!!) Aside from that, it was a great experience. I love interviewing people because you learn so much. Sometimes you learn new ideas you want to borrow, sometimes you learn interviewing techniques you want to steal and sometimes you learn more about people you thought you already knew. In these particular interviews, the candidates did their homework about Westbrook and shared how we are leaders in trying new things and how people talk about us around the district. What??? Freaking amazing!! And then one candidate asked the panel what they love about working at Westbrook. It initially felt a little awkward, I can't explain why, but after everyone shared, I felt like my heart could explode and I wanted to cry. Guys, Westbrook is amazing! Don't ever let the pride you feel diminish. Jesse Bennett was also raving about our students and she described the environment as feeling 'positive and light.' Shoot, I could go on forever, but I hope this adds to your bucket. This is a tough time of year and all of these wonderful things are 100% because of each and every one of you!!

Just continuing on with the theme of amazing, our Read a Thon was simply the best. Thank you to our team, led by Kim Hertzberg, who made this happen. From my perspective, the week really was focused on the love of reading and everything was low key. I loved how Jesse kicked off the Read a Thon and thought it was so great outside! Then, the kids covering campus with there blankets and books was beautiful. Again, thank you to all of you! Oh, and I do think we will be keeping the classical music Fridays! I loved it and heard from many of you who loved it, as well.

Staff Meeting Follow Up: Reminder to wear grade level colors or school shirt on Wednesday for our school picture at 10am. I think we should line up by grade level and maybe we do it by class, like a fire drill? Except with kinder and TK on the blacktop with everyone else. Brainstorm the following things with your PLC this week.
