Sunday, May 5

Happy Sunday! I hope you know how much I appreciate each and every one of you every day of the year. I don't do a very good job of keeping it a secret. In honor of Teacher Appreciation Week, I have created a dress code. You have to wear a t-shirt with a fun saying each day. And you may as well wear comfy bottoms to go with them! Also.....

GIFT OF TIME! πŸ’  As part of our appreciation for all of you, Jessica and I would love to give you a 40 minutes prep on us! Please see the link below for more info and to sign up for an additional prep on us! GIFT OF TIME!Teacher appreciation- dress code, gift of time

Whole School Picture:
We will have a whole school picture on Tuesday at 8am. Please encourage students to wear their grade level shirts.

PBIS Update

Westbrook! We have done so many amazing things to implement Tier 1 this year. What a huge success! Next year we will be implementing Tier 2 officially. Which means we are looking for a PBIS Tier 2 lead. Start giving some thought if you are excited to lead our school Tier2 while we still maintain and build upon our Tier 1 practices!

We also had quite a robust conversation about recess and specifically the field. The weather is beautiful, the field is dry (finally) and kids are enjoying that space. Please take your class or grade level out for a refresher of field rules. It is so important for everyone to be mindful of how they are using the space with multiple ways to enjoy it...from an active game of pick-up soccer to sprawling out to enjoy some rays...we've got a little bit of everything. πŸ˜Ž
  • Recess yard duties - “field” duty needs to be on the field in between upper/lower grades

  • Break Cards: Yard duties will be given colored "break cards" to be given if a student breaks a rule or gets really upset and needs a moment to calm.

  • There are colored paw prints that are near the field and the bike racks.

  • Green Card/Paw print=field break

  • Yellow Card/Paw print=black top/blue zone break

  • Student has the choice to take the card and stand on a paw print for a breather OR they can walk 1 lap then return to a paw print to be released by the recess duty.

  • We have cones to split the field between upper/lower grades

For students who don't have enough time to eat:
  • Students still needing to finish their lunches can finish at a table in the back of the cafeteria instead of bringing it out to the playground

Rori will prep and distribute the "break cards" by Monday.
