Happy Sunday! I just wanted to let you know that I do not take your flexibility for granted. Think of all the changes we have made to our flag salutes and character assemblies in the first few months of school! (In addition to many other things.) You all have both shared ideas and taken on the changes with impressive flexibility. Your willingness to do these things helps us to be more successful as a team as well as being a model for our students. Oh, don't worry, I am sure there are more changes to come!! πŸ˜‚ Regardless, thank you!! Speaking of thank you's, THANK YOU!! The love I felt for the entire last week was like nothing I have every experienced. I really don't know what to say, besides 'Thank you!' ~ from the bottom of my heart. In addition, the way the students showed their love for me was the sweetest. I think you all know how lucky I feel to be surrounded by each and every one of you each day. We are truly a family! πŸ’™πŸ’› Updated Lunchroom Expectations- Co...

This is what I put in the family blog but I want to share it with you, as well!  Happy Sunday and Congrats to all of my Niners Fans out there! I am bummed we did not pull of the upset but it was a great game. The Packers made some big mistakes at the wrong time, but that goes to show you, we all make mistakes even if we are paid an astronomical amount of moneyπŸ˜‚ I have to say, I loved so much of the game. I loved (and hated) how close it was. I loved the history of Shanahan and LaFleur. I also enjoyed hearing how the coaches trusted their young quarterbacks. It was a good one and that is all I have to say!  Staff Potluck on Wednesday, 1/24:   This Wednesday's staff potluck is breakfast for lunch! Check the sign up here: January Potluck 100th Day of School: This Friday, 1/26, is the 100th Day of School and we are 100 Days Brighter! Wear your neon.   (In full transparency, the following is what I wrote in the family blog. I need to be efficient so I can watch the game!!) Happy Wildcard Weekend!! If there was ever a moment when you doubted whether or not the Brooks were true Packer fans, we cleared up any doubt today. We also provided many smiles for our fellow shoppers. I told my son I want him to wear this more often because everyone got such a kick out of it. The game is on right now, so there is a lot of excitement (and yelling) in our household. Eeek. Also, I am having a very hard time focusing on the blog!!  It was a great week back. I cannot tell you how happy I was when some of you shared things you were doing in your classrooms and growth by your students. I love that you did not miss a beat when the students returned from break. I also appreciate how you braved the cold to do the Recess Rodeos and worked together to find solutions and share ideas. Man, how lucky and I to be surrounded by the dream team!  Un...

Good Afternoon Westbrook Staff!! I wasn't going to do a blog today but a few things have happened recently and I started writing a blog in my head, so here we are! 😊 I was lucky enough to spend time with my sister over break and she happens to be a high school math teacher. I also spent some time with a friend who is a middle school principal. Of course, we talked about work things! The thing that came up was how hard it is to help kids who are behind in middle and high school. Our school system simply does not allow for the intervention they need.  I am sure all of you know, but I have worked at every level: Elementary, middle and high school. Actually, the least of my experience was in elementary. At one point in my career, I was offered an opportunity to choose between middle school and elementary administration. I chose elementary because A) I had the most to learn, but also B) Elementary is where we truly change a child's academic trajectory.  Westbrook, we are so...
