Happy Sunday!! The elf apologizes for the disruption and excitement it may be causing in your classes, but that won't stop the elf from carrying on. Sorry not sorry!

I have been thinking about the elf, and to be honest, it is something I have contemplated doing for several years. However, I always found a reason not to do it. Embracing the Westbrook Way, I decided to take it on this year. All I have to say is that I am so glad I did. It has created a stir and excitement like no other for our students. It is as much fun for me as it is for them! I am so happy we have the Westbrook Elf around to make December that much more fun and Westbrook that much more special. Thank you to all of you for having patience and putting up with it! 

Also, a completely random thought. I noticed the picture in last week's blog was at our paint night. How in the world was that only last week? It feels like it was at least a month ago. Ha!! Hang in there, we can do this! 

There are many many things happening this week! Rather than include all of the images and pictures, I am going to write it all out below. 

First, the school items:

December 12 is our 2 assemblies with Jesse Bennett: Assembly Sign Up

December 13 is an Evacuation Drill at 10:10am and Skate Night from 6-8pm. We would love to see you at skate night, for even a brief appearance, if you can!

December 14 is our staff pot luck lunch. It is a loaded potatoes and we need more potatoes 🥔 Please sign up here: Potluck Sign Up

December 15 is our staff party: Holiday Party details:

When: Friday, Dec. 15th at 5:00 PM
Where: 7177 Castle Rock Way, Roseville 95747
What to bring: BYOB and a white elephant gift wrapped ($10-$15) if you wish to participate in the gift exchange 🎁

If you RSVPed yes, please venmo or pay $15 to Jen Hardy for each guest attending the party by next Friday, Dec. 15th for dinner. Her venmo is @jen-hardy92.

Monday, December 18: Sunshine is planning Pebble Creek Holiday "Cheers and Lights" on Monday, Dec. 18th at 5:30. We had a lot of interest and would love for you all to join us with your families! Please meet in the Raley's parking lot off of Sunset and Stanford Ranch by Round Table at 5:30 pm and we will walk over together. Sunshine will be providing some hot drinks to all who come, but if you'd prefer to BYOB you are more than welcome to! 

Now, for the after school excitement! And actually besides skate night and the staff party, the only event is Thursday Night. 

Thursday evening, you and your families are invited to a very fun evening. The neighborhood Santa will be driving by Westbrook. The route begins at 6pm but it will be a bit before Santa makes his appearance at Westbrook. In the meantime, we will have food trucks and a local craft fair. There will be some really great things at the craft fair! See below for what one of our student's grandfather has been working on. I am very excited to see all of the things for sale! 😍

Visit from the Gingerbread Man!
Rori's son, Ian, is going to make a special visit to Westbrook on December 19 as the Gingerbread Man! 
Sign up on this document for this special visit. It should only last about 10-15 minutes...enough for a quick greeting, photo op and then on the run so the little old lady doesn't catch him. If your students have seen Shrek, he's pretty spot on with that act. 😆

All School Sing-A-Long: On December 20:  We are going to do a school sing a long on December 20. It will be in two groups like our previous assemblies. The assembly times will be 8:00am and 8:30am. On this day, we will have a whole school pajama day and the kids will come to the multi where Marc will lead the students through the songs they have learned in music. December Dress Up Days: So, you can plan your wardrobe accordingly, these will be our December dress up days.

  Happy Sunday! This week we have our first assembly recognizing our Resilient students. I cannot how happy it makes me to hear students talking about what it means to be resilient. This is such an important trait I hope to grow in our students at Westbrook. All of you are the perfect examples to lead the way as you have demonstrated such resilience in the opening of Westbrook. Another thank you to all of you! The Assembly will start around 10:10am. Some grade levels will be coming straight from recess. Let me know if you have questions about the process of the assembly. I know it will be new for most of you. I will have the certificates in your boxes tomorrow.  Keep an eye out for SWIS updates and information this week.  Volunteer Update:  Jason Perrone, our resident cheerleader, put a sign up in the staff room for him to come in and read to your class with the intention of having you leave the room and get a break. This is what I put in the family blog but I want to share it with you, as well!  Happy Sunday and Congrats to all of my Niners Fans out there! I am bummed we did not pull of the upset but it was a great game. The Packers made some big mistakes at the wrong time, but that goes to show you, we all make mistakes even if we are paid an astronomical amount of money😂 I have to say, I loved so much of the game. I loved (and hated) how close it was. I loved the history of Shanahan and LaFleur. I also enjoyed hearing how the coaches trusted their young quarterbacks.   Welcome to December, Westbrook! I just have to say, you all rock! Thursday's paint night was so much fun. There was so much laughing and well, joy. We were the first staff to do a paint night at MoJoe's and it was the largest paint night group they ever hosted. Leave it up to us to be the first! Many of you commented on how much fun it was and some even asked why more staffs do not do it? Well, to be completely honest, I want all of you to think about the staffs you came from and ask yourself if there would have been so many people at an event like this? In my experience not many would have shown up or it would have been the same few who always come. Is it the same for you? This is one of the million reasons we are so fortunate at Westbrook.
