Today, we find ourselves the day before returning to school after a nice, long break! This is rarely our favorite place to be but I hope you were able to find some time to relax and savor the moments. I know I am not alone in thinking this past week flew by! The collage above is from our trip to get our Christmas tree and its arrival in the house. Each year, our family goes to a cute tree farm the day after Thanksgiving. As you can see, we have a tall ceiling, so we have had some really tall trees. The funny thing is that we never have any idea how big the tree actually is until we get it in the space. This year, our tree is really narrow and I love it! Who knows what next year will bring! 

As we were getting ready and decorating the tree, it felt like we had just done it last week. How could it be that time of year again?? But then, I took a second and thought about last year at this time. Last year, I was busy writing my letter of interest and getting ready to apply to be the principal of Westbrook. During winter break, I was working on my presentation for my interview that would be the week we returned from break. I think all of you know where things went from there. So, for me to think we were just doing this, is kind of crazy. It is almost as though I have practically lived a lifetime since then! 

I share this to say, 'Wow! What a year it has been!' and 'Thank you for being part of this ride.' I think all of you are why I can say this year has flown by and I wouldn't change a thing. As we move forward, let's keep doing amazing things and keep enjoying each other! 

Culture Building at MoJoe's: We will have our staff paint and fun on Thursday, November 30 from 4-6pm. This will be in place of our staff meeting on that day. It is $40 which includes a beverage, everything you need to paint and take the above picture home with you.

Jesse Bennett Assembly: Jesse Bennett, a local author and friend, will be reading her book and leading an assembly on December 12. She has written 3 books that she will be donating to our library.

Student ID Cards-Request: The students are beginning to use their new ID cards to buy lunch, which is awesome! If you could please write your name (teacher name) in sharpie on the front of the card, that would be incredibly helpful. It is tough for Laura to separate the cards by teacher without teacher names on the lunch cards. Thank you!

Walkie Talkies- Our walkie talkies have arrived. Yay!! They have also been checked out to teachers. If IA's and support staff could grab a walkie talkie from the office in the mornings when they arrive at school that would be perfect. We will all be connected in no time! 


All School Sing-A-Long: On December 20: We are going to do a school sing a long on December 20. It will be in two groups like our assemblies. On this day, we will have a whole school pajama day and the kids will come to the multi where Marc will lead the students through the songs they have learned in music. We got a preview at the choir assembly and it will be so fun! 

December Dress Up Days: So, you can plan your wardrobe accordingly, these will be our December dress up days. Today at Walmart, I saw an awesome Grinch costume. I was so close to buying it, but passed. It is there for you, if you are interested😆

Westbrook Customs Committee: Hello! I would like to gather a group of you who would like to help create our Westbrook Customs. I am not a huge fan of the word traditions, so if you can think of a better word than customs, send it my way! We will document what events we have done so far that we would like continue doing and also create a list of what we would like to do for the remainder of the year. Please let me know if you are interested!

  Happy Sunday! This week we have our first assembly recognizing our Resilient students. I cannot how happy it makes me to hear students talking about what it means to be resilient. This is such an important trait I hope to grow in our students at Westbrook. All of you are the perfect examples to lead the way as you have demonstrated such resilience in the opening of Westbrook. Another thank you to all of you! The Assembly will start around 10:10am. Some grade levels will be coming straight from recess. Let me know if you have questions about the process of the assembly. I know it will be new for most of you. This is what I put in the family blog but I want to share it with you, as well!  Happy Sunday and Congrats to all of my Niners Fans out there! I am bummed we did not pull of the upset but it was a great game. The Packers made some big mistakes at the wrong time, but that goes to show you, we all make mistakes even if we are paid an astronomical amount of money😂 I have to say, I loved so much of the game. I loved (and hated) how close it was. I loved the history of Shanahan and LaFleur. I also enjoyed hearing how the coaches trusted their young quarterbacks.   Welcome to December, Westbrook! I just have to say, you all rock! Thursday's paint night was so much fun. There was so much laughing and well, joy. We were the first staff to do a paint night at MoJoe's and it was the largest paint night group they ever hosted. Leave it up to us to be the first! Many of you commented on how much fun it was and some even asked why more staffs do not do it? Well, to be completely honest, I want all of you to think about the staffs you came from and ask yourself if there would have been so many people at an event like this? In my experience not many would have shown up or it would have been the same few who always come. Is it the same for you? This is one of the million reasons we are so fortunate at Westbrook.
