Happy Sunday! This week we have our first assembly recognizing our Resilient students. I cannot how happy it makes me to hear students talking about what it means to be resilient. This is such an important trait I hope to grow in our students at Westbrook. All of you are the perfect examples to lead the way as you have demonstrated such resilience in the opening of Westbrook. Another thank you to all of you!
The Assembly will start around 10:10am. Some grade levels will be coming straight from recess. Let me know if you have questions about the process of the assembly. I know it will be new for most of you. I will have the certificates in your boxes tomorrow.
Keep an eye out for SWIS updates and information this week.
Volunteer Update:Jason Perrone, our resident cheerleader, put a sign up in the staff room for him to come in and read to your class with the intention of having you leave the room and get a break. He does not have a slot for everyone on this first sign up, but he will be back. He is so incredibly generous and excited to help each of you!
Book Fair: A huge shoutout to Andrea for taking on a book fair right out of the gate. This was her first book fair which is a huge undertaking in itself, but the second week of school is straight CRAZY! And our parent volunteers were amazing. The families donated an incredible amount of books and money to the library! Way to go, Westbrook!
I will be sending an email to the neighbors in the Heritage Solaire Development this week. Be thinking about how you can use them. I know you are just figuring out your RTI groups, but we have several people that will be able to work with small groups of students that need additional support. It will take a bit to get it all figured out, but I just want you to have it in mind. It is unusual to have this incredible gift of extra hands. Let's make the most of it!
A few volunteers will be coming this week to help Andrea with the donated books by sorting through them. They also hope to help in anyway they can to help Andrea get the library ready. It blows me away that we have a need, I reach out to a couple people and poof, there are people excited to help.
