Oh my goodness! If you all could have seen me at the West Park game on Friday night!! They played Placer, a team that beat them handily just a few weeks ago. The boys were pumped and excited to meet them again, however I knew all of us had a bit of doubt in the back of our minds. Man, the boys came out to play from the first moment. It was such a close game! West Park had several penalties at exactly the wrong times and Placer tied the score just before the 4th quarter. The game went into overtime and we won!! I was worn out and had no voice! Even Joelle started to yell. It was so fun! Our stands were rocking and the West Park band was awesome. The best was the excitement and pride on these boys' faces. I think they still are on cloud 9. I share all of this with you because of course, I am a proud momma, but also because these are the boys that help in our classrooms! Shoot, that gave me an idea. (Literally, at this moment.) Maybe we could do some good luck cards for them. Let me know if your class would like to make them a card. 



Choir Assemblies: Our choir would love to practice and share their talents in an assembly on Monday. We will have two assemblies at 8am and 8:30am, just like the dance assembly on Tuesday.

Also, if you have a student in choir, they need to report to the music room at 7:55am. 
Conference Week: Conference week is here. I know it is a big and often stressful week for each of you, but know this is one of parents' favorite weeks. They do not get to be in the classroom and at school with their children each day. They really want to know all about a day in the life of their child. What does their child like to do at school, who do they play with, how are they in the classroom? As you meet with each parent, enjoy the time with them. That being said, if you would like me at a conference, let me know. If you have a child with attendance issues, I would love to be able to attend and talk about attendance. Let me know if you would like there!


Speaking of attendance, the district is printing a graphic about the attendance process, meeting schedules, etc for you to have on hand at your conferences. They will be delivered Monday. 
Unfortunately, our attendance at Westbrook is not too hot. I am on a mission to improve it dramatically. Just so you know, letter are being sent to families and meetings are being set up. I am also going to be calling families to see if I can figure out why some students are having attendance issues. Let me know if there is anyone who needs support in your classes. 
Assembly Date Change: Our ROCK assembly will not be this Friday. It will be on December 1. We will get invitations and certificates to you. Our ROCKin Wolverine assembly will remain on December 15 because those are students you have been noticing since the beginning of the year. 

Culture Building at MoJoe's: We will have our staff paint and fun on Thursday, November 30 from 4-6pm. This will be in place of our staff meeting on that day. It is $40 which includes a beverage, everything you need to paint and take the above picture home with you.

K-Kids: We are lucky to have a K-Kids club at Westbrook and they have many philanthropic events coming up. See below for details:

** KCRA Kids Can Food Drive now through next week. Bring in cans to help the Placer County Food Bank feed the community. Any non-perishable foods will be greatly appreciated!!

** Silver Wars for Lahaina - starts after Thanksgiving break. We will have plastic tubs for each teacher. Students bring in coins to fill their tub. One Friday, we will have a sabotage time to go to other classes with dollar bills. The teacher with the most money after sabotage WINS!!! 

** Toys For Tots - collecting new toys for little ones. This event will take place in December.

  Happy Sunday! This week we have our first assembly recognizing our Resilient students. I cannot how happy it makes me to hear students talking about what it means to be resilient. This is such an important trait I hope to grow in our students at Westbrook. All of you are the perfect examples to lead the way as you have demonstrated such resilience in the opening of Westbrook. Another thank you to all of you! The Assembly will start around 10:10am. Some grade levels will be coming straight from recess. Let me know if you have questions about the process of the assembly. I know it will be new for most of you. This is what I put in the family blog but I want to share it with you, as well!  Happy Sunday and Congrats to all of my Niners Fans out there! I am bummed we did not pull of the upset but it was a great game. The Packers made some big mistakes at the wrong time, but that goes to show you, we all make mistakes even if we are paid an astronomical amount of money😂 I have to say, I loved so much of the game. I loved (and hated) how close it was. I loved the history of Shanahan and LaFleur. I also enjoyed hearing how the coaches trusted their young quarterbacks.   Welcome to December, Westbrook! I just have to say, you all rock! Thursday's paint night was so much fun. There was so much laughing and well, joy. We were the first staff to do a paint night at MoJoe's and it was the largest paint night group they ever hosted. Leave it up to us to be the first! Many of you commented on how much fun it was and some even asked why more staffs do not do it? Well, to be completely honest, I want all of you to think about the staffs you came from and ask yourself if there would have been so many people at an event like this? In my experience not many would have shown up or it would have been the same few who always come. Is it the same for you? This is one of the million reasons we are so fortunate at Westbrook. We all enjoy spending time with each other and we make the time to do fun things like this together. We are so lucky! I challenge you to keep this going.
