Mic drop. Blog over. Peace out.

Ok, just kidding. But in all honesty, come on!!! I ordered myself a sweatshirt last night and it says 'Remember your Why.' Whelp, there you have it. This is one of the many "why's" we do this really tough work day in and day out.

I am not sure how it happened, but tomorrow is October. In my eyes, that is the beginning of the holiday season which we all know FLIES by!! That aside, it also marks a lot of things in schools. First and foremost, the honeymoon period is absolutely over. Funny not funny. We now know our students' strengths and weaknesses. We have started RTI and are providing intervention. As far as school systems go, we know what works and what needs adjustment. And finally, we are in our last push before the trimester ends. Phew, I am worn out just writing that! So, as quoted by one of my favorite Peloton instructors, 'Buckle up, Buttercup.' The fun is just beginning!

Last week, was A WEEK!! We had all the fun events and all the assemblies. We were even visited by First Responders. So much fun! But we did it with flying colors. Go Westbrook!

Essential Standard Pacing Guides: Before Wednesday, 10/4, please add your grade level essential standard pacing guides to this folder: Grade Level Essential Standard

Even if they are not complete, add them to the folder. You can continue to work on them after they have been shared. Thank you! We will be talking about them at my Leadership meeting on Tuesday. Below  are the questions we will be discussing. If your PLC would like to provide any feedback to these questions, I would love it, but no obligation.

  1. Are all of your PLCs using common assessments?

  2. Are all of your PLCs participating in data analysis conversations frequently? If not, which ones need more support than others? Which PLCs do you have doing this very well?

  3. If you have PLCs that are not discussing data, where is a logical starting point for them? Do they have common assessments that are given at common times?

  4. Are your PLCs using the RCSD Data Analysis Form or are they collecting and analyzing data using a different format?

West Park High School Players will be coming this Tuesday from 8:45-9:45am. There will be 18 players coming. I would love for each of them to have something to do. They can simply come read a book to the class, play a game outside, run a small group, practice math facts, sight words or maybe even letter sounds. They could do something with a different group of your students each time they come and using the outdoor tables is a great option. If you need ideas, let me know.

Please add you name to this list.  I hope to have enough to cover all of your requests.

4th grade has PD this Tuesday, so that opens up a couple spots.

Football Help Interest Form

Heritage Solaire Neighbors: Our neighbors cannot wait to help out at Westbrook. Tracy Nelson is helping me take on this task. Please add your ideas to this list: Community Helpers. We hope to have this up and running by Oct. 9, which may be a hefty goal, but you know how I roll.

Wellness Program - Grokker Challenge - Sept 25 to Oct 13

It’s not too late, you can still sign up for the 10 Minute, No Limit!! Challenge - We challenge you to find me-time for 10 minutes a day, for 19 days.  There’s “no limit” on what you do as long as you focus on your wellbeing for 10 minutes a day. All participating district employees must complete the SIG Wellness - Annual Wellness Waiver of Liability form.  The completed form can be sent to Laurie Milton in Personnel.

Guests on Campus: I wanted to let you know there will be several guests on campus this Thursday from 10-11am. The builders and architects of the next Roseville school will be touring Westbrook to get ideas and hear feedback. In addition, our builder, architects and district office personnel will be visiting.
