Happy Almost Halloween! Thank you all for such a fun day on Friday! Now, all we have to do is make it through the post candy, up too late, coma to come on Wednesday. Then, all is good! And that also marks making it through the very LONG month of October!!! Give yourself a big pat on the back.

There are some big updates in the Brooks household. First, my car does have new tires. That is BIG news! Also, we are down two practices a night, so the Brooks boys will be home before 8:30pm! That is a big YAY!! All of this to say, we are down to the last few weeks of soccer for Joelle, travel lacrosse for Jojo, and football playoffs for Jonathan. Practically a vacation😂


Professional Development Schedule: We have PD on Monday and Tuesday. Everything will be at Westbrook in the Lab. (Except TK will be at Brown Monday AM) The focus on Monday is around PLC work, the Essential Standards pacing guide and data analysis. I am excited because the timing is perfect. All of our PLC's are new teams and we are creating our guides together. It will be a great morning with some work time in the afternoon. I am confident that we will have the model pacing guides by the time we are done.

Tuesday, October 31:

8am-12pm: Paul Lundberg will be here to lead us through another step of culture building. I would love for anyone who is available to participate. I think having everyone as part of our first culture building activity was really unique and made it even more meaningful. We are so fortunate to get to work with Paul!! 

Lunch - 12:00 - 1:00pm Lunch is provided by our Heritage Solaire Neighbors. Isn't that amazing?


Afternoon- 1:00 - 3:00

  • PLC Continued Work time 

MoJoe's Paint and Sip: Our staff MoJoe's Paint and Sip will be November 30 from 4-6pm. Almost all of you said that was a better day. This is going to be so fun! I will share more details as I get them. 


PBIS: Exciting news!! The PBIS team completed the TFI, Tiered Fidelity Inventory, that determines how well PBIS has been implemented and is being used on campus. We scored 80%!!! That is a HUGE accomplishment, especially for a new school. It often takes years to hit that mark. A big thank you to Jessica Dana, Rori and the PBIS team!! Also, to all of you! Keep it up, Westbrook! We are recognition bound. 

Calendar Updates: I gave you all rights to our Staff Calendar. Please add your lunch meetings and even buddy times. It will help everyone know what is happening and where you are. Thank you for the suggestion! Here are a few sign ups that have recently gone around. The first is for assemblies and the other is where you should add the names of student's who want pizza or ice cream with the principal. When I get a few more students, I will be setting some dates.

  Happy Sunday! This week we have our first assembly recognizing our Resilient students. I cannot how happy it makes me to hear students talking about what it means to be resilient. This is such an important trait I hope to grow in our students at Westbrook. All of you are the perfect examples to lead the way as you have demonstrated such resilience in the opening of Westbrook. Another thank you to all of you! The Assembly will start around 10:10am. Some grade levels will be coming straight from recess. Let me know if you have questions about the process of the assembly. I know it will be new for most of you. This is what I put in the family blog but I want to share it with you, as well!  Happy Sunday and Congrats to all of my Niners Fans out there! I am bummed we did not pull of the upset but it was a great game. The Packers made some big mistakes at the wrong time, but that goes to show you, we all make mistakes even if we are paid an astronomical amount of money😂 I have to say, I loved so much of the game. I loved (and hated) how close it was. I loved the history of Shanahan and LaFleur. I also enjoyed hearing how the coaches trusted their young quarterbacks.   Welcome to December, Westbrook! I just have to say, you all rock! Thursday's paint night was so much fun. There was so much laughing and well, joy. We were the first staff to do a paint night at MoJoe's and it was the largest paint night group they ever hosted. Leave it up to us to be the first! Many of you commented on how much fun it was and some even asked why more staffs do not do it? Well, to be completely honest, I want all of you to think about the staffs you came from and ask yourself if there would have been so many people at an event like this? In my experience not many would have shown up or it would have been the same few who always come. Is it the same for you? This is one of the million reasons we are so fortunate at Westbrook.
