Happy Sunday!! We made it through our first full week! In my opinion, things are beginning to feel a little more comfortable as we get our systems in place. Now, we can start focusing on what we do- kids!! 

Speaking of kids, we have a lot of people that want to come help! There are about 50 people from the Heritage Solaire neighborhood across the street that are eager to help. The WestPark football team is also going to come every other week. I want to create a schedule so that you have a consistent person working with your class or a small group when they come. Many of the volunteers from across the street are retired teachers, administrators, ELD teachers and more. They have the knowledge and desire to help. The football players can also lead small groups after some training. All of this to say, we have the village ready to support our students. They can be part of your RTI groups for the students that are outliers. I will work on coordinating the support, but I would you like to think of ways you could use some extra hands. 

IEP Days: I had a couple people ask so I thought I would share info about IEP Days. Our first IEP day is 9/7 and on that day, we hold as many IEP's as possible throughout the day. If you get invited to an IEP on one of these days, a roving sub will cover your class during the IEP.

Here is an outline of how long each training is supposed to take. Some of them can be quickly clicked through. 
I know these are not fun, but the are required trainings for employment. In all transparency, I have not done them yet and need to get started!! 

TOSA: Why is there a dog pictured for TOSA Tidbits?? Because when you search images for TOSA, this is what you see. Did you know this dog is a Tosa Inu?? I never knew of this dog and thought I would share my learning. Ha! Now, onto the actual TOSA Tidbits.

Beyond the 2 week sign up:
TK-1: Please let me know if you'd appreciate additional support to complete your BOY assessments. We can help administer them or supervise your class while you give them. 

2nd-5th: Please let me know if you have students who are on your radar after taking the iReady diagnostic that may need some more data points like BPST, Running Record or the Delta Math Screener for math.

**I will also be sharing a sign up for me to come into the class and read a book or just chat with your class. I will be sharing that this week.

  Happy Sunday! This week we have our first assembly recognizing our Resilient students. I cannot how happy it makes me to hear students talking about what it means to be resilient. This is such an important trait I hope to grow in our students at Westbrook. All of you are the perfect examples to lead the way as you have demonstrated such resilience in the opening of Westbrook. Another thank you to all of you! The Assembly will start around 10:10am. Some grade levels will be coming straight from recess. Let me know if you have questions about the process of the assembly. I know it will be new for most of you. This is what I put in the family blog but I want to share it with you, as well!  Happy Sunday and Congrats to all of my Niners Fans out there! I am bummed we did not pull of the upset but it was a great game. The Packers made some big mistakes at the wrong time, but that goes to show you, we all make mistakes even if we are paid an astronomical amount of money😂 I have to say, I loved so much of the game. I loved (and hated) how close it was. I loved the history of Shanahan and LaFleur. I also enjoyed hearing how the coaches trusted their young quarterbacks.   Welcome to December, Westbrook! I just have to say, you all rock! Thursday's paint night was so much fun. There was so much laughing and well, joy. We were the first staff to do a paint night at MoJoe's and it was the largest paint night group they ever hosted. Leave it up to us to be the first! Many of you commented on how much fun it was and some even asked why more staffs do not do it? Well, to be completely honest, I want all of you to think about the staffs you came from and ask yourself if there would have been so many people at an event like this? In my experience not many would have shown up or it would have been the same few who always come. Is it the same for you? This is one of the million reasons we are so fortunate at Westbrook.
