Hello Westbrook Staff!! All I have to say is, 'We did it!!' What that means to me is that we made it through the build up and the opening day. Quite frankly, what we do from here feels more normal. Well, maybe after we get some of our systems dialed in. The toughest part of my day is lunch, but I know that will soon be just a funny memory. At least, I hope😂

I also want to give everyone a huge shout out!! Each and every one of you has been extremely flexible and positive through all of the craziness. I appreciate that!!

And another HUGE shout out to Taylor, Heather, Crystal, Jenn, Andrea, Alexis, Brittany, Rori and more!! You have all absolutely jumped in with both feet to support our students from day one!! When I see so many people wrapping around our students it almost brings me to tears. (Apparently, not hard to do lately.) Thank you!!

Status of the Walkies: We grew so fast! We are ordering more! We have enough for the following:
FSP teachers and their IAs, School Psych, RSP and RSP IA, TOSA and TOSA  IA, Principal, both secretaries and one for each grade level.
Please sign the walkie out on the sign-out sheet until they can be checked out to us in destiny.

New PE Schedule: As we have added schedules, our PE schedule has changed again.
Here is the new schedule: PE Schedule

I don't have the updated Music schedule just yet.

Spirit Week! This week is our ROCK kick off week. See below for the dress up days:

Book Fair: This week is also the book fair!! Andrea is working on creating a sign up for you to bring your classes. It will also be open after school for parents to bring their children. More info to come soon!

TOSA Tidbits
I have been able to go into some of your classes and meet your wonderful students but Jenn and I are even more excited to get to KNOW all of them! Normally I put out a schedule for you to sign up for us to come spend some time in your class during the 1st full 2 weeks of school. I've decided to push this out by a week and begin my voluntary sign-up for the weeks of Aug-21-25 and Aug 28-Sept 1.  I want my time in your class to be protected time when it's less likely to be pulled away and I think an extra week to get our routines on solid ground would be smart.

With that said, here is a link to my schedule if you want to plan ahead.  This is voluntary and I would love to be able to spend some time in every class! You can sign up for one slot for now and if space allows you can sign up for more. There is a separate sign up for each week which are the first two tabs of the document. The 3rd and 4th tabs are for our schedules once we move into tiered supports. We will develop those schedules once we begin our PLC work.

And if you're adding nuts and bolts:
-Please clearly label your lunch basket with your name. We have had baskets accidentally taken by other students.
-You can write your room number on your playground balls.

PBIS Corner:
This week we will continue to focus on introducing our school wide behavior expectations: ROCK! Remember, the more you use them, the more students will learn them!Continue passing out ROCKstars. Extra copies will be in the office, near our teacher cubbies.

We will have the grade level ROCKstar buckets for the ROCKstars that need to be labeled by grade level. Please have your students bring up all ROCKstars Friday at the end of the day. If students want to save them for the prize cart, that is ok, too! Mrs. Brooks will be pulling grade level winners on Friday after lunch. Rori has some small teal buckets if teachers want them for ROCKstar storage.

If you haven't already,  please print the ROCK posters for your classroom, here is the link. These are a great resource to use in teaching ROCK to your class.

Lesson Plans are ready for you to use this week to start explicitly teaching behavior expectations around Westbrook this week! We have our top 5 lessons created and most of them should have videos linked! Click Here to access the daily lesson plans at the bottom of the Spirit week Schedule. Remember, there are suggested read alouds for each day, too!(slides 2-6)

⭐Feedback Needed: We were thinking of having our first school-wide drawing this Friday afternoon and then settling in on our weekly time the following week. The problem is that TK/K will be gone after lunch. I could come around and do a drawing in each class this Friday. Talk to your grade level and share your ideas about what we do this week and give me your preference between the following for our weekly time slot:
1) Our Specials start at 7:55am on Monday. Do we start the week with a flag salute and drawing?
2) Wednesday morning. Do we make a fun acronym for Wednesdays and make that our drawing day? Dress in grade level colors, etc?
3) Thursday morning is also an option.

Let me know what is the least intrusive on your schedule. These drawings take 10-15min.

Work in Progress: Here are the things we are working on~
*Getting our 5th grader support mapped out.
* Scheduling safety drills and other events.

Parent Blog: Here is the link to the parent blog. It includes a drop off video and other important info. I like to share my parent communication with you so you know what I am sharing with them. I recommend you watch my drop off video just so you know what I have shared.
